Collision Damage Waiver/Theft Protection (CDW-TP). The purchase of CDW-TP is optional and not required to rent a vehicle. If you purchase CDW/TP, the company contractually releases you from liability for all or part of the costs of damage to, loss of, or theft of the vehicle during the rental period in Mexico, unless you invalidate coverage as provided in the rental contract. A maximum deductible of USD 3,500 will apply. If the CDW-TP is denied, the renter is responsible for the full value of the damage to the vehicle.

In Mexico, third party liability insurance is required by law for all vehicles. By contracting third-party liability protection (TPL), customers may have coverage against damages and injuries to third parties in accordance with the provisions of the vehicle rental company's insurance. The contracting of the TPL is mandatory unless the client provides valid proof of third party civil liability insurance in force that offers specific coverage in Mexico. Keep in mind that most non-Mexico vehicle insurance policies do not offer coverage in the country. Third party liability insurance purchased on third party websites and insurance included with US credit or debit cards may not be acceptable forms of coverage. The employees of the local office of the rental company are not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the personal insurance of the client's vehicle. The customer should contact their insurance company prior to the rental pickup date and raise any questions regarding the coverage in question. Likewise, if the client presents valid proof that they have valid third-party liability insurance that offers coverage in Mexico and waives the TPL insurance offered by the local car rental company, an additional authorization will be withheld for an amount of $60,000.00 MXN on your credit card.
