Rent a car terms and conditions

Requirements for rental

Every client can be a candidate to rent a car if the following valid personal documents accredit she/he as the holder:

• Valid driver's license.
• Voting credential from the INE, valid passport or immigration document.
• Credit card: Visa, Master Card and American Express. In case of previously paid reservations, the credit card must be the same one of the payment.
• 25 years old or more, except the limits established on this policy.

Licenses

All clients must provide an official and valid ID, including foreign customers. Temporary permissions won’t be considered nor traffic tickets in case the license has been withdrawn.Digital licenses only valid in the issuing state.

Age Limits

Minimum accepted age is 21 years old and maximum age is 75 years old to rent a car, as long as they have a valid driver’s license.

Younger Drivers

Drivers that are less than 25 years old will be considered minors. Therefore, an additional payment per day of rent applies.

Currency

Charges and fees will be charged in Mexican pesos.

Exchange Rate

The exchange rate applies to the date of the contract opening or what is established in the system in use.

Taxes

V.A.T. is 16% in Mexico.

Additional Charges

Will be considered specials and, if it is the case, will be negotiated and confirmed in the location.

Reservations

Reservations can be made up one hour in advance in all categories, other than those considered special, in which case the city will be asked for confirmation. Availability may vary.

ID

In all cases, an official ID will be required. Passport or official ID are accepted, not driver’s license. For foreign customers, return ticket might be requested.

Deposits

Deposits for warranty must be made with a credit card: American Express, VISA or MasterCard. Amounts can vary depending on the contracted coverages and the rented car. This is explained in the Warranty section according to the contracted coverages.

Payment Method

Credit card: American Express, VISA and Master Card. Pre payment coupons or responsive letters in case of having a valid credit account with an agreement.

Cash Rents

Not allowed.

Pre paid Vouchers

Nowadays, some international accounts issue vouchers or electronic payments that can be consulted in the Reservations department. In case of having questions, responsive letters according to valid agreements, as well as exchanges, credits and national accounts must be sent to Alamo’s Commercial Management to follow them up and get authorization.

Online Payment Methods

The payment via web can be done on any of the next platforms:

- BBVA Bancomer - Openpay.

If you have any questions call (800) 849 8001​​ and keep your reservation number close to you. Your reservation must be paid online with a credit card, the same card has to be presented at the counter when picking up the car. The name of the holder must coincide with the person’s ID.

POLICIES OF MONTHS WITHOUT INTERESTS

The customer can make his payments in instalmments of periods of 3 or 6 months , provided that he has a total account of an amount of $1,500.00 Mexican pesos minimum plus Value Added Tax (VAT), and when the customer has a credit card from any of the following participating banks:

10. Santander
11. Scotiabank

The approval, as well as the application of the monthly charges, will be responsibility of the selected bank by the client at time of payment. Alamo is not responsible for future clarifications or cancellations in the recurrence charges. In that case, the customer must correct this situation with his bank.

Driving Territory

The territory allowed to drive the units will be within Mexico, except for the spots that, for the territorial location, are able to allow passage under a policy of commercial convenience.

Accidents

Reporting an accident to the insurance company is mandatory. If necessary, the required procedures before the proper authorities must be made. The rental office must be informed of the accident to follow up. Denying filling in the accident report or the lack of it could invalidate the protection coverages acquired.

Maximum Rental Period

The maximum rental period in a contract will be 30 days and a renewal of a new contract must be made after this period or, in every case, a sufficient guarantee that proves the payment at the contract closing.

Additional Driver

It’s important to get this service if more than one person is going to drive the car. In case of forgetting to do so, any coverage that was acquired will be invalid.

Baby Seats

Mandatory in some cities. Ask in the counter.

Frequent Travelers Participation

Alamo USA participates in some international programs. (Ask at the moment of rental).
For the moment, Alamo México does not have any program for mile redemption, points or frequent traveler.

Home Delivery and Reception

Home deliveries and reception are allowed in every city and cause no extra charge, except for those places that are not easily accessible or are too far away. In this case, a charge may be made. This service is subject to availability.

Fuel Policy

In the case of delivering the unit with less fuel, there is an extra charge for refill the fuel tank.

Drop Off

You can drop off the car in a different location than the one in which you rented it if:

- It’s an Alamo office in Mexican territory.
- The client agrees with the charge of return mileage.

Third Party Liability (TPL)

This protection covers third party liability for a person and its belongings, as well as the legal expenses. This protection is mandatory for all clients and costs $342 pesos per day of rent. The covered amount go up to $3,000,000 pesos.

Collision, Damage and Theft Insurance (CDW/TP)

It has a cost of $380 pesos per day of rent and covers damage to the car.

Deductible Protection (DP)

It has a cost of $190 pesos per day of rent, additional to the CDW insurance. This protection covers the deductible payment caused by a car accident, theft or damage for normal use of the vehicle. It doesn’t cover accidents caused by negligence, alcohol, drugs or abnormal use of the vehicle.

In every case, the client has to make the corresponding procedures before the authorities as well as the required reports for Alamo to be absolved of the deductible. IT DOES NOT COVER burns or stains in the vestments nor partial thefts of adjuncts.

Warranty according to the reserved category

A warranty according to the selected category and protection coverage acquired will be asked for when you agree with our services.

This warranty is additional to the base rate, coverage, extra services and taxes acquired. If there is no issue when giving back the car, the warranty payment will be set free. The period of time of the latter depends only on your credit card issuing bank.
